Iced studs are usually built from round stones. This pair goes the other way. Long, straight-sided lab grown diamonds fill a 10MM square in rows, and a small round stone sits in each corner to soften the edges. The look is cleaner and more architectural than a cluster. Round and cluster designs for comparison are in lab diamond earrings.
A step cut has long, flat facets arranged like stairs. It does not scatter light into tiny points the way a round brilliant does. It throws it back in broad flashes that come and go as you turn your head. Emerald-cut rings work on the same principle; here it is scaled down to fit an earlobe.
In this layout the middle row of stones runs vertically and the rows above and below run across, which gives the face a woven, parquet-like pattern when you look closely. The grading report shown in the photos describes the stones as trapezoid and round brilliant cuts, and records the tested pair as 14K gold, weighing 3.29 grams for the two earrings together. Every stone on these studs is lab grown; none of them came out of a mine. For chains and rings in the same stones, look at lab grown diamond jewelry.
Each square is set on a boxed back with openings cut into its sides, and each earring closes with a screw back.
What changes between 10K, 14K and 18K? The share of pure gold. At 10K the metal is 41.7 percent gold, at 14K it is 58.5 percent and at 18K it is 75 percent, and the price steps up with it. The stones and the design stay the same.
Why are there round stones at the corners? A square frame leaves four corners that long, straight stones cannot reach neatly. One round brilliant tucked into each corner fills the gap and adds a little sparkle among the broader flashes.
Will they look smaller than a 10MM round stud? A little larger, if anything. A square covers about a quarter more area than a circle of the same width, and the corners are where that extra shows.
Does the 3.29 gram figure apply to 10K and 18K too? It was measured on the 14K pair. Higher karat gold is denser, so an 18K pair comes out slightly heavier and a 10K pair slightly lighter, though the difference is small at this size.
Is your jewelry real?
Yes. Most of our pieces are S925 sterling silver set with VVS moissanite. Our Lab Diamond line is set with real lab-grown diamonds instead. Some styles use brass with 18K gold plating. Check each product description for the exact material.
Are the stones real diamonds?
It depends on the line. Most of our jewelry is set with VVS moissanite, which is its own gemstone, not a diamond. Our Lab Diamond line is set with real lab-grown diamonds, chemically identical to mined diamonds. The product title and description tell you which one you are looking at, and our moissanite vs diamond guide breaks down how the stones differ.
Does the jewelry come with a certificate?
Most pieces ship with a gemstone certificate in the box. Where one is included, the issuing laboratory is named on that product's page, and the paperwork usually appears in the listing photos as well.
Will the jewelry fade?
Plating lasts longest when it stays dry, so take pieces off before swimming or showering, wipe them down after a heavy sweat, and store them in the jewelry pouch when not in use. Gold-plated styles are finished with multiple layers of plating for long-lasting shine, while sterling silver styles keep their natural finish.
