A US nickel weighs five grams. According to its lab report, this cross comes in just under that at 4.68 grams, and that small weight holds 25 lab grown diamonds. They run in single file from the foot of the cross to the top of its bail, set in a white-finished frame of 925 sterling silver.
Single file, top to bottom
The stones are matched round brilliants, about 3MM across, which makes each arm exactly one stone wide. The lower arm runs long and the crossbar sits high, the classic Latin proportions. At the crossing there is only one diamond, shared by the upright and the crossbar, and with no bigger center stone to pull focus, the outline lights up evenly.
