Turn this ring on its side and the outline is anything but smooth. An oval dome of lab grown diamonds rises off a sterling silver shank, and toward its edges many of the stones are set point out, so the profile bristles like a sea urchin. From above, the face is a single oval of white light with those points ringing its edge.
The stones come in several sizes. A larger stone holds the top of the dome, and smaller ones take over as the face slopes toward the band. The sizes step down with the curve, and that keeps the dome looking full and rounded right out to the rim. The gaps between the stones are filled with tiny silver beads. In the close-up photos those beads give the metal a granular look, almost like frost, and there are dozens of them on the face alone. Eternity bands, solitaires and two-stone designs sit in the wider collection of lab diamond rings.
Mosaic setting is a trade name for stones of different sizes packed together with no rows and no grid, each one fitted into the room its neighbors leave. On this ring the stones also face two ways. Most on the upper face look up at you, while the ones along the rim are tipped outward. That split explains why the ring has one look from above and quite another from the side.
A lab report card on this design appears in several of the photos. It names the metal as S925 silver and the stones as round brilliant, colorless laboratory-grown diamonds. Against the white finish of the metal, they photograph as a clean, icy white.
In the portrait shot, the model pairs it with a halo stud, which echoes the ring in miniature. Studs in that style, along with plainer single stones, are gathered under lab grown diamond studs.
Does the dome slide to one side? It can if the band is loose. A raised face puts more weight on top, and gravity tends to pull it around toward the next finger. A snug fit keeps the dome riding on top of the finger, where it was meant to sit.
Is your jewelry real?
Yes. Most of our pieces are S925 sterling silver set with VVS moissanite. Our Lab Diamond line is set with real lab-grown diamonds instead. Some styles use brass with 18K gold plating. Check each product description for the exact material.
Are the stones real diamonds?
It depends on the line. Most of our jewelry is set with VVS moissanite, which is its own gemstone, not a diamond. Our Lab Diamond line is set with real lab-grown diamonds, chemically identical to mined diamonds. The product title and description tell you which one you are looking at, and our moissanite vs diamond guide breaks down how the stones differ.
Does the jewelry come with a certificate?
Most pieces ship with a gemstone certificate in the box. Where one is included, the issuing laboratory is named on that product's page, and the paperwork usually appears in the listing photos as well.
Will the jewelry fade?
Plating lasts longest when it stays dry, so take pieces off before swimming or showering, wipe them down after a heavy sweat, and store them in the jewelry pouch when not in use. Gold-plated styles are finished with multiple layers of plating for long-lasting shine, while sterling silver styles keep their natural finish.
